The Museum of the American G.I.’s annual Living History Weekend will be March 22-24, 2019. This event is entirely run by volunteers and we need your help!   

Volunteers are needed to :
– help with setup/takedown
– act as squad leaders for the Living History School Day
– help during the Living History School Day
– act as help with the main gate
– supervise the Jr. G.I. Zone
– help survey spectators
– help with the concession stands
– help with crowd control and general event help

Our volunteers always say they had a great time and where else do you get to see historic tanks, a Huey helicopter and see History Come Alive!

General Event Volunteer Sign Up  –  Available in early Feb

General event volunteers must be at least 17 years old and in good health (be able to walk / work outside for a 4 hour shift).

Scouting Volunteer Sign Up –
 Available in early Feb

Calling all Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts (5th grade and up) to work the food concession stands. No cooking is required. All slots are a minimum of 2 scouts deep with 1 adult. Scouts volunteers need to be comfortable handling money (making change) and being attentive to the public.

What does a volunteer do?

Squad Leaders escort students between stations. The Squad Leader’s primary job is to get their squad to each station on time! Squad Leaders must work well with both kids and adults.

Front Gate volunteers collect entry fees and answer questions.

Jr. G.I. Zone volunteers supervise kids (5 -11) going the course to ensure the kids safely complete the obstacles and with face painting (camo and simple designs as desired by kids and painter)

Survey volunteers help collect intercept surveys.

Bridge guards act as access control to prevent spectators from entering the reenactment field.

General Information for Volunteers

Parking Information: Volunteers will be parking at Santa’s Wonderland Comet Lot and walking to the museum property.

Check in Information: Please check in at the museum building early for instructions and direction to your volunteer location.

What to wear: Comfortable Jeans, T-Shirt, tennis shoes.

What not to wear: sandals, exercise shorts, sweat pants, exercise clothes
