If you are looking for something fun and exciting to do as the chilly days of winter start to give way to warmer spring, you won’t want to miss this year’s Living History Weekend at the Museum of the American G.I.
Noted as being the biggest and most anticipated living history weekend event in Texas, it is scheduled for Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27, 2022, with visual and live-action displays, military reenactments, and much more happening throughout the weekend.
Something For Everyone At Living History Weekend 2022
What can you expect to see during Living History Weekend this March?
Whether you are a history and military enthusiast, a young person just learning about American history, or even a veteran of wars of the past, there will be something there for everyone.
Highlights of the weekend include WWI and WWII battle skirmish reenactments and living history in action weapons demonstrations, all happening on both days for all attendees to experience.
You can ride in a real WWII tank or half-track, shoot a Howitzer artillery gun, or even shoot a paintball-adapted machine gun!
You can even tour a replica of a WWI trench, then witness a real trench battle just like it happened before.
Tank and half-track rides around the arena and shooting do involve an additional fee, but all proceeds and donations go to keep these vehicles and equipment running and available for display during our special living history weekends in Texas and throughout the year.
In addition to the living history military reenactments, tank rides, and weaponry demonstrations, admission includes a ride on a Humvee or WWII 2-1/2 ton CCKW, which will transport you to the reenactment fields as well as to numerous narrated living history displays that are nearby.
See firsthand what it was like to live the lives of the soldiers of WWI and WWII in demonstrations put on by seasoned historians and actors with a love for American history and great attention to detail.
From infantry to paratroopers and even a glimpse into General Patton’s command tent, you will get an inside look of what it was all like back in the day when history was in the making.
Military Vehicle Rally and Swap Meet On Living History Weekend
For those into collectible memorabilia and military vehicle restorations, there is plenty there for you, too!
