War on Terror & Today (2001-Present)

The War on Terror was brought about by the terrorist attacks of September 11th which forever changed the United States of America. Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks and the economic, political, and national security impact was immense. The Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists was made law on 14 September 2001. This authorized the use of the United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the September 11 attacks.

The Iraq War was a protracted armed conflict that began in 2003 with the United States-led invasion of Iraq that overthrew the government of Saddam Hussein.
