American Intervention & Gulf War (1992-2000)

On January 17th, 1991, the U.S. led military coalition launched combat operations in Kuwait named Operation Desert Storm. Desert Storm was a short campaign, only lasting 43 days. In late February of that year, ground forces led an offensive that was able to forcibly remove Iraqi forces from Kuwait.

The Persian Gulf War was the first major international crisis since the Cold War. Saddam Hussein ordered the invasion of Kuwait, some say in an effort to acquire Kuwait’s oil reserves and cancel the debt Iraq owed to Kuwait.
