Help us Save the Museum! The Bryan College Station MPO 2050 Major Thoroughfares Concept map has a road bisecting the Museum of the American G.I. You can help us save the museum for future generations by emailing the BCS MPO requesting they remove or relocate the proposed road off of museum property (the proposed road is at the first underpass south of Texas World Speedway). Email Dan Rudge (email@example.com) and Lisa Lyon (firstname.lastname@example.org) by May 31 expressing your support for the museum and our mission. We are one of the few museums in the south that can hold living history education events on their own property. Most other organization hold events on public land owned by the city, state or federal government! The museum is more than just a building to display tanks, military vehicles and artifacts. Our vehicles are not simply part of static displays; rather they are part of our mission to educate the public by displaying the vehicles in action which requires land! Each year the museum is growing larger, reaching more people. Special events and living history displays are added annually. By Fall 2017, we will have a permanent WWI trench system! Hard to find those in the state of Texas!
If no further significant comments are made, the concept will be presented to the MPO Policy Board on June 7 for adoption. Once adopted by the MPO, it will eventually become the Brazos County Thoroughfare plan. The next step would be to sync with the College Station Thoroughfare map (this road is currently not on the College Station Map). While all roads on the concept map will not be built or funded, a potential road across the museum property would be devastating for the museum’s mission. Please help us get the road removed now! With your help this can be done! Let the MPO know you support the museum and want to see it preserved to honor veterans and educate future generations!
