The Museum of the American G.I. maintains high safety standards for all of our events. We have always been pleased with the professionalism of the living historians who attend our event. We all know that reenacting is an inherently dangerous activity, more so when you are dealing with large, heavy vehicles such as tanks. In our current cultural climate, the first words someone utters after an accident is “I sure hope you have good insurance”. Event insurance does not cover you personally in regards to personal injury and especially liability. Additionally many of you drive a distance to reach reenacting events.
Personal liability insurance is very expensive. The Reenactors provides the most affordable and comprehensive reenactor insurance currently available. By joining The Reenactors , you will receive both personal injury and liability insurance. Membership in The Reenactors provides personal injury coverage while you are participating in a reenactment or associated event. The member is covered going to and from a reenactment, as well as at the event itself for both personal simple injuries and catastrophic injuries (loss of an eye, or limb, or other major injury). This will work as primary or secondary (to pay deductible) insurance. Possibly more important than personal injury is the liability insurance. This liability insurance covers you, the reenactor, for any event (reenactments, school presentations, meetings etc) as long as the event meets the Living History Associations (LHA) Safety Rule Standard (which the Museum of the American G.I. and many other events do). I repeat, this insurance covers you for any event, not just the events hosted by the Museum of the American G.I. All of this comes with the $35 membership fee per year.
Many historic reenacting events are beginning to require all participants to carry both personal injury as well as liability insurance. Our goal is to help you obtain the best possible protection and give you and your family peace of mind so you can have more fun when you play! You are never sorry that you have insurance, you are only sorry when you do not. We encourage all Living Historians (those participating in the battle and those who do not) to obtain insurance. The best option we have found for individuals is The Reenactors. You can join on-line. Quick, easy, and simple. http://reenactorsinsurance.com/what-i-do/. Having personal injury and liability insurance will give you confidence and peace of mind knowing you and everyone else is covered while you do what you love – reenacting.
